Alexander Filius has a total experience of more than 30 years, having worked at three large law firms and at three asset managers/merchant banks. He has extensive experience in negotiating agreements on behalf of clients (such as investment management agreements and custody agreements), in structuring/restructuring investment funds and in advising on EU and Netherlands regulations in the financial sector (such as AIFMD, UCITS and MiFID 2). Finally, he has ample experience in dispute resolution, including litigation. Alexander is author on investment funds for Kluwer “Supervision Financial Markets”.
Jelmer is specialized in securities law and other financial supervision regulations, including the Dutch Act on Financial Supervision (Wet op het financieel toezicht), MiFID 2/MiFIR, AIFMD, UCITS, PRIIPs, EMIR and BMR. He was previously employed as senior legal counsel at an asset manager/merchant bank where he was responsible for the negotiation of investment management mandates with institutional investors such as pension funds, insurance companies and fund managers. He has also been a senior associate at a leading Benelux law firm where he assisted and represented financial institutions on numerous regulatory and compliance matters. Jelmer holds an LL.M. degree (with honors) in Financial Law and a MSc. degree in Finance & Investments. He has also successfully completed a postdoctoral specialisation programme in Securities Law (with honors) at the Grotius Academy.
Alexander Filius and Jelmer Dobbe have each registered the following area of law with The Netherlands Bar: Financial law, including banking law.
Pursuant to this registration, each of them is required to obtain ten permanent education credits for this area of law in accordance with the standards of The Netherlands Bar.
